College OPTIONS Hosts Shasta County College 101 event at Simpson University

College OPTIONS will host Shasta County College 101, an event specifically geared for high school sophomores and juniors, on Wednesday, March 25th.

Students will have an opportunity to attend free workshops on financial aid, learn about their options after high school, and take a tour of campus which will use Simpson as a model of what students can expect from a college campus. They will also have the opportunity to speak with a panel of current college students who are attending a variety of universities. The purpose of the event is to give participants a snapshot into what their life after high school could look like and a general understanding of college and university life.

Over 400 local high school sophomores and juniors are expected to attend the college awareness event. It will be held on the Simpson University campus from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A free lunch will be provided to participants. Additionally, attendees will also have a chance to win a variety of prizes donated by local businesses and organizations from our generous community.

This year’s sponsors include Mt. Shasta Spring Water, Oasis Fun Center, Jamba Juice, Chipotle, J&A Food Service, Big League Dreams, The Elegant Bean, Cinders Pizza, Heavenly Donuts, Trader Joes and Kwik N’ Kleen Carwash.

The College 101 event is brought to you by a committee of representatives from College OPTIONS, Simpson University, Shasta College, National University and Shasta County high school counselors.
