In partnership with the Far North State College Access Network and Shasta College, College OPTIONS is hosting a College Send-Off Celebration on Thursday, August 8th from 6:30 to 8:30pm in the Shasta College Cafeteria located at 11555 Old Oregon Trail, Redding. Local students who are starting or transferring to a college in the fall and their parents are encouraged to attend this free event.

The goal is to provide an opportunity for students from various high schools who are headed to similar colleges to network, ask questions, get and give advice and start building their new community.  Alumni and current college students will be present to provide their valuable perspectives and share their personal college and professional stories with the new students.

Annie Hsuan, a University Preparatory School graduate and UC Davis student shared about her experience. “The social helped me to step out of my comfort zone and meet new people, which is what college is all about. It also helped me realize that focusing on my strengths will help me be successful in the future”
 

Light refreshments will be provided, as well as time for mingling and break-out sessions designed help students network. There will also be a workshop for parents to help with this transition.

The College Send-Off Celebration is sponsored by College OPTIONS, Shasta College and the Far North State College Access Network. This event is free to local students and their families. Registration is not required to attend. For more information contact Amanda Wigno at (530) 245-5812.
