WALNUT, Calif. — A pair of Washington State men ran to lifetime-best times Thursday night at the 57th Annual Mt. SAC Relays Distance Carnival in Walnut, Calif.
It was a memorable night for senior Forrest Shaffer (Petaluma, Calif.), as he broke through the nine-minute barrier for the steeplechase. Shaffer ran a PR time of 8 minutes 59.85 seconds in the men’s Collegiate/Open 3000m steeplechase for ninth place in his section.
John Whelan (sophomore, Etna, Calif.) took fourth place in the men’s 10,000m Invitational section B with a PR time of 29:43.41.
The competition continues for the Cougars Friday and Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays.
