Family Field Trip – Butte College & CSU Chico: November 2, 2013
November 15, 2013
On November 2, 2013 thirty-six Siskiyou County, Fall River High School and Burney High School students, and College OPTIONS advisors made a trek to the Butte College Family Day, Chico State University and the Craig Hall housing complex.
Butte College organized a campus showcase beginning with information sessions from Admissions and Financial Aid representatives. Students then could choose to attend interactive department presentations in Computer Science, Law Enforcement, Welding, Health Care and/or Drafting. The next stop was the Chico State campus where students were given a campus and Recreation Center tour, followed by an admissions presentation from Assistant Director of Admissions and Outreach, Teresita Curiel. Several Siskiyou County alumni who attend Chico State joined the tour and added their perspectives. The final stop on the whirlwind tour was Craig Hall, a residence hall complex, which serves students who attend both Butte College and Chico State.
To finish the day, students were given time to explore the shops, restaurants, and cultural sites of downtown Chico. This trip was a quick and efficient way for participants to see the options available in the Chico area.
