Simpson University 7th Grade ETS Field Trip

On Thursday, February 12th, fifty-eight Tehama County 7th grade students from Maywood Middle School and Vista Preparatory Academy attended the annual Tehama County 7th Grade Educational Talent Search Trip to Simpson University in Redding. The goal of the Educational Talent Search program is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school, and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education. This event was geared to start showing these 7th grade students the options they have after high school and to help them start really thinking about their future.

At the event, students attended an admissions presentation, talked to a student panel and got a tour of the campus. The students also got a chance to experience what it is like to eat on a college campus by eating in the dining commons at Simpson University. Additionally, the field trip was also a positive experience for the participants because they got the opportunity to meet students from another school within their county. Students were engaged with both the tours and student panels by asking lots of questions, which was a very pleasant thing to witness.
