Over 1200 Shasta County kindergarten students are expected to visit the Simpson University campus on Friday, May 9th, as part of the 8th annual Kinder College Day event.
The goal of Kinder College Day is to introduce students to the idea of college and career possibilities early in their academic careers, and to let parents and teachers know it is never too early to discuss those possibilities with children.
Groups of approximately 25 students will rotate through interactive career stations from a variety of organizations and programs, including Shasta County Sheriffs Department K-9 Team, Shasta Public Library, Redding Electric Utility, Shasta Regional Medical Center and the Bureau of Land Management.
Shasta County KinderCollege Day is an interactive day filled with engaging presenters that are there to help Kindergartners learn more about their profession, and the education needed for their career, said Becky Nail of College & Career Options.
The event will take place from 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and is sponsored by College & Career Options, First 5 Shasta, Mt. Shasta Spring Water, Redding Bank of Commerce, ScholarShare California’s 529 Savings Plan, Simpson University and Trader Joes. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children.
